Anneke Wills was born in 1941 in Berkshire but moved around the country with her mother and brother during her early years, she won her first role at the tender age of 11 in a film called Child's Play, she then studied at the Arts Educational School in London and later at RADA, though she did not complete the course.

She appeared as Roberta in the 1957 production of The Railway Children and went on to roles in series such as Emergency Ward 10, Don't Tell Father, The Strange World of Guerney Slade, The Likely Lads, The Saint and in two episodes of The Avengers and landed the role of Polly in Doctor Who where she appeared through the first regeneration from William Hartnell to Patrick Troughton.

After leaving the show her main role was in Strange Report alongside Anthony Quayle and Charles Lloyd Pack, father of future Cyber Controller, Roger. Aged 17 she began a relationship with Anthony Newley and later married Celestial Toymaker actor Michael Gough and was a member of the Chelsea set of the 1960's. After giving up acting in 1970 she travelled extensively, including living at the ashram of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, and divorced Gough towards the end of the decade, she remarried twice and later returned to England in the mid 1990's and has since become a popular guest on the Doctor Who convention circuit and has been involved in several audio projects for Big Finish as well as appearing on the DVD range.
