Loose Cannon's Hall Of Fame:
Sonny Caldinez was born in Trinidad in 1932 but emigrated to England at the age of 20. He started with manual work on the railways before training as a professional wrestler which took him all over the world.
With his powerful build Sonny found himself, almost accidentally, becoming a stuntman. He worked on movies such as Call Me Bwana, starring Bob Hope before gradually becoming an actor and taking many small parts. Most of Sonny's early 'appearances' were actually under make-up or behind a mask including his roles in Doctor Who as an Ice Warrior. In fact, the only time that Sonny's face has ever been seen on camera in Doctor Who was his role as Kemel in The Evil of the Daleks. Sonny's filmgraphy has continued to grow over the years seeing him appear in many well known feature films such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, the James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun and The Fifth Element. During the 1970s, he was also seen on TV in series such as Mind Your Language
Another interesting line of work saw Sonny becoming a bodyguard to pop stars such as Michael Jackson, Sade and Terrence Trent Darby.
Nowadays, Sonny shares his time between England and Spain. Loose Cannon were fortunate enough to catch up with Sonny during one of his summer spells in the UK and managed to capture some of his memories to camera.
